Report reveals how Paratici feels about Steve Hitchen’s Spurs resignation

The Athletic have revealed that Fabio Paratici has been left disappointed by Steve Hitchen’s decision to resign from his post as Tottenham’s technical performance director.

The report reveals that Hitchen and Paratici had been friends for several years but the Italian’s arrival at Spurs meant that Hitchen lost most of his power at the club.

Following Paratici’s appointment as managing director of football, Hitchen is not thought to have had much of a say in the club’s managerial appointments or their transfer targets.

The 45-year-old was allegedly not involved in many of Spurs’ transfer acquisitions over the last two windows, with the likes of Cristian Romero, Pierluigi Gollini, Bryan Gil and Emerson Royal, Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur signed based on Paratici’s contacts.

The Athletic state that Hitchen was effectively working as Paratici’s number two, serving primarily as the link between the Italian and the players and staff.

It is also revealed that Hitchen was approached by Newcastle United immediately following the Saudi takeover and he is now the leading candidate to replace Marcel Brands as Everton’s director of football.

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on this report, it seems like Hitchen’s departure was inevitable once Paratici was appointed at Spurs. So, one would think that Daniel Levy probably anticipated the 45-year-old’s resignation.

Hitchen has come in for a lot of criticism from Spurs fans on social media, which I always found quite weird considering that none of us are privy to what actually goes on at the club.
