Report reveals positive news for Tottenham on four South American stars

Tottenham may be set to have their South American contingent available for selection against Newcastle United this weekend, according to The Telegraph.

Argentina duo Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero, Brazil right-back Emerson Royal and Colombia centre-back Davinson Sanchez are all on international duty with their respective nations, but were not granted permission to leave early to return to the UK.

However, The Telegraph now report the quartet could return to England via a private jet following their potential involvement in fixtures later this week, meaning they could be available for Sunday afternoon’s clash against Newcastle.

Lo Celso and Romero are likely to take part in Argentina’s World Cup qualifier against Peru which kicks off early on Friday morning, while Emerson could be in action for Brazil against Uruguay on the same day.

Meanwhile, Sanchez has started as a substitute in both of Colombia’s qualifiers so far, but has one more fixture against Ecuador to negotiate on Thursday night.

The report claims the four will fly back to the country directly after the conclusion of the fixtures and will stay at the club’s Enfield training centre – which is a condition players must fulfil if they are to play after having travelled to a ‘red-list’ country.

Spurs are reportedly weighing up whether the players need to travel to Tyneside separately, but there is a growing confidence within the club that all will be back for thorough assessment ahead of the trip to St James’ Park.

This is very promising news for Nuno Espirito Santo, who needs all his players to be available ahead of what is expected to be a tough fixture against Newcastle.

We are not out of the woods yet regarding the South American players, as it is still not a full guarantee that they will make the trip, with fitness assessments still pending.
