Report reveals potential boost in Harry Winks’ rumoured preferred transfer

In what potentially comes as a boost to Harry Winks’ hopes of joining Valencia, Sportitalia’s Michele Criscitiello has revealed that the La Liga club are still ‘far away’ from reaching an agreement to sign Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo.

AS reported on Wednesday that Valencia had identified Winks as their clear plan B in case the La Liga club were not able to land Arthur on loan from Juventus.

The report explained that the Brazilian’s salary demands were proving complicated for the Spanish club to satisfy.

It was asserted that Tottenham would be open to loaning Winks out this summer as the North London club had not received suitable offers for the midfielder so far.

AS further added that Winks had turned down other approaches and was waiting for Valencia’s offer because moving to the Mestalla was the England international’s number one preference.

If Criscitiello’s latest update is to be believed, Winks might get his wish as Gennaro Gattuso’s side are struggling to complete a deal for Arthur.

The journalist claimed that as things stand, Valencia are only able to pay 25 per cent of the Juve star’s salary.

Spurs Web Opinion

I have no doubts Winks would have received offers from a couple of Premier League clubs this summer. The fact that he is still at Spurs might be because he is waiting to see if Valencia’s interest materialises. I can understand why the 26-year-old would want the move as Spanish football will suit his style of play.
