Football London have reported that Tottenham’s training ground video this week could offer a potential hint at Antonio Conte’s first starting XI of the season.
Spurs welcome Southampton to North London this afternoon for their first match of the 2022/23 campaign after a positive summer of transfers and pre-season.
Tottenham released a training ground video earlier this week in which ten players wore bibs for a passing drill against the rest of the squad.
The players in question were Cristian Romero, Eric Dier, Clement Lenglet, Emerson Royal, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon, Dejan Kulusevski, Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, which rather coincidentally could make a strong starting XI.
The vast majority of these names, alongside Hugo Lloris, made up Conte’s favoured XI towards the end of last season, with Clement Lenglet replacing Ben Davies who is working his way back from a knock in pre-season.
It remains to be seen whether Football London have spotted a real spoiler here…
Spurs Web Opinion:
I would imagine this is the exact line-up Conte will go for, with perhaps the only change coming at left-centre-back, which will be a choice between Lenglet, Davies, and Davinson Sanchez.
