Report reveals potential release clause value in new Adama Traore contract offer

The Sun have claimed that a £60m release clause in the new contract offered to Tottenham target Adama Traore could help to convince the winger to sign.

Spurs were heavily linked with a move for Traore in the last couple of weeks of the summer transfer window.

The North London club reportedly saw a loan approach with an option to buy the Spanish international for £40m rejected by Wolves and were expected to make another push before the deadline.

However, the West Midlands club allegedly demanded £50m from Spurs for the winger on transfer deadline day, effectively pricing him out of a transfer.

Reports have since emerged that Wolves are ready to offer Traore a four-year contract worth £120,000-a-week in order to keep him out of Tottenham’s hands.

Some sources have even suggested that Wolves are confident of reaching an agreement over the 25-year-old’s representatives.

However, The Sun have now claimed that there is still plenty of work to be done before the two parties reach a complete agreement.

The report reveals the Spaniard is ambitious and wants assurances that the club would compete for European football regularly before committing his future.

It is also asserted that a £60m buy-out clause in the contract could help to persuade Traore to sign on the dotted line.

Spurs Web Opinion

With just two years left on his contract, Traore has all the power here as he knows clubs are interested in him. So, the 25-year-old is unlikely to sign a new contract without a release clause.

However, I cannot see Spurs breaking their transfer record on the winger by spending £60m on him. So, if he does sign a new deal at the Molineux, that will likely end Tottenham’s interest in the player.
