Report reveals Real Madrid’s stance on signing Spurs target Willian on free transfer

Real Madrid have reportedly rejected the chance to sign Willian on a free transfer when his current deal with Chelsea runs out in the summer.

Free agents are expected to be highly sought after this summer due to the limited transfer funds clubs have at their disposal thanks to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Some outlets have suggested that Tottenham are the favourites to sign the 31-year-old (Mundo Deportivo) but recent reports indicate that the Lilywhites might favour a move for Ryan Fraser (Todofichajes) instead, who may also become a free agent this summer.

Ok Diario (as relayed by Le10Sport) now reveal that the Brazilian was posed as a possible option to Zinedine Zidane by the Madrid hierarchy due to the Spanish giants’ limited transfer funds this summer.

However, it is said that Zidane rejected the deal outright as he didn’t feel that Los Blancos needed a player of Willian’s profile.

The report goes on to suggest that PSG are also interested in signing the Chelsea star but claims that Spurs and Arsenal remain the front runners for his signature.

Spurs Web Opinion

Although I would personally prefer us to sign Ryan Fraser over Willian because of the former’s age and versatility, I believe Mourinho would prefer to sign Willian if given the chance. With Arsenal also seemingly in the race for both players, it will be interesting to who gets who.
