Report reveals reasons why Ilaix Moriba ‘ruled out’ a Tottenham move

Multiple reports from Spain are now suggesting that Ilaix Moriba has rejected a move to Tottenham in favour of joining RB Leipzig.

Moriba won several admirers after breaking into the Barcelona first-team back in January but a contract standoff with the Catalan club has seen the midfielder being frozen out of the first-team picture.

Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for the 18-year-old over the last few days, with reports indicating that the North London club were looking to hammer out a €20m (£17.1m) deal for the youngster.

However, Fabrizio Romano revealed earlier today that Spurs had ended talks with Barcelona regarding Moriba, with Leipzig now the midfielder’s most likely destination.

Mundo Deportivo have now backed up that claim by reporting that Moriba has told Barcelona he ‘only wants to join Leipzig’

Meanwhile, Sport shed more light on why the midfielder ‘ruled out’ a move to North London after listening to the club’s sporting and financial proposal.

The publication claims that the teenager believed he is more likely to get regular minutes at the Bundesliga club and is also keen to play in the Champions League.

While Moriba clearly has great potential, this could potentially be a bullet dodged for Spurs as the youngster does not seem to have his priorities straight as evidenced by his contract demands to Barcelona.
