Football Insider have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur will target a commanding centre-back with genuine pace during this summer’s transfer window.
Tottenham have been linked with several central defenders over the past couple of months including the likes of Joachim Andersen, Nikola Milenkovic, Jerome Boateng and Jannik Vestergaard.
Some sources have claimed that Boateng, who will be available on a free transfer when his contract with Bayern Munich runs out next month, is Tottenham’s number one choice.
Football Insider have now reiterated the claim that strengthening in central defence is a priority for Spurs this summer, with the club accepting the fact that they need new signings to fix their defensive issues.
It is explained that Tottenham want an experienced campaigner, who can command the backline and has pace to burn.
However, the recruitment team are said to be aware that it will not be easy to sign such a player, particularly since the club do not have a big transfer budget to work with.
