Report reveals Spurs could take big step in Zaniolo pursuit this weekend

TuttoSport have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are ‘determined’ to snap up Nicolo Zaniolo and are set to meet with the AS Roma hierarchy this weekend to negotiate a deal.

Reports in Italy over recent days have suggested that Spurs have overtaken Juventus into pole position in the race for Zaniolo, with Antonio Conte thought to be keen on landing the 23-year-old (Quotidiano Nazionale).

TuttoSport have now claimed that while Juventus have not given up on the Roma star, Spurs are ‘serious’ about the attacker and determined to sink a blow this weekend.

It is explained that the two clubs’ hierarchy are expected to meet this Saturday in Israel, where Conte’s men will take on Jose Mourinho’s side in a pre-season friendly.

Tottenham are allegedly aiming to strike an agreement with the Giallorossi regarding the Italy international over the weekend.

The report adds that while Zaniolo wants to remain in Serie A and would prefer to move to Juventus, he would be open to the idea of linking up with Conte at Spurs.

TuttoSport add that Juve ‘remain in the running’ for the Roma star’s signature and ‘could intervene’ over the coming days.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am starting to believe that Conte’s decision to experiment with Lucas at right-wing-back is because of the possibility that another forward, in the form of Zaniolo, could arrive at the club.

It sounds like both Conte and Paratici are serious about landing the Roma star but one would expect the north London club to move some players on before pushing ahead with a move for the 23-year-old.
