Report reveals Spurs’ stance on Ndombele amidst rumoured Barcelona offer

Tottenham Hotspur have no intention of selling Tanguy Ndombele despite the rumoured interest from Barcelona, according to a report in the Mirror.

Ndombele has failed to live up to expectations since Spurs shattered their transfer record to sign him from Lyon last summer. As such, reports claimed this week that Barcelona have offered the midfielder an exit route out of North London.

Mundo Deportivo initially reported that Tottenham were willing to offer Ndombele to the Catalans in a part-exchange deal for Arthur Melo.

Sky Sports then claimed that Barca had instead offered Tottenham the chance to sign Samuel Umtiti and Nelson Semedo in exchange for the Frenchman.

However, the Mirror has now ruled out the possibility of Ndombele leaving Spurs at all by insisting that the Lilywhites will reject any approach for the 23-year-old this summer.

The report asserts that Jose Mourinho is committed to helping the former Lyon man turn around his fortunes at Tottenham. It is claimed that the Spurs boss has sought to reassure Ndombele that he can be a success at the club.

I doubt that the club will want to take a loss on Ndombele just a year into his time at Spurs after investing so much on him last summer. However, I wonder if it would be prudent to move him on if we have a chance of signing Arthur. The last thing we need is a player who isn’t 100 per cent committed to the cause and so hopefully the Frenchman has been clear with Mourinho that he is keen to put things right at Spurs.
