Report reveals the classy gesture Ivan Perisic made to Joe Rodon this week

Ivan Perisic personally called Joe Rodon to request if he could wear the No. 14 shirt number ahead of his first season at Tottenham, according to Football.London.

Joining on a free transfer earlier this summer, the 33-year-old phoned Rodon to ask if he could wear his favoured number with the Wales international happily obliging.

Tottenham confirmed Rodon would now move over to the No. 22 which he wore during his time with Swansea and was occupied briefly by Perisic over pre-season.

With the pair expected to have the chance to don their new numbers in Saturday’s friendly against Rangers, Spurs also announced those of fellow new acquisitions Djed Spence and Clement Lenglet.

Spence, who joined from Middlesbrough this week, has taken the No. 24 while Lenglet will wear the No. 34 during his season-long loan spell.

Spurs again reiterated the current numbers are subject to change and not representative until the final squad list is submitted shortly before the opening week of the campaign.

Spurs Web Opinion

Perisic has often stuck with the 14 throughout his career and calling Rodon to ask if he could wear it is really the least he could have done.

It is good stuff from Rodon too to accommodate Perisic and that will have gone down well considering the Croatian has only just entered new surroundings.
