Report reveals the club Spurs-linked Antonio Rudiger wants to join on a free

According to a report from Foot Mercato, rumoured Tottenham target Antonio Rudiger wants to join Real Madrid when his contract with Chelsea runs out in the summer.

Rudiger’s current contract at Chelsea runs out at the end of the season and the Blues have so far failed with their attempts to renew the defender’s deal.

According to reports, Tottenham are in contact with the former Roma man’s representative on a daily basis, with the North London club said to be trying to strike an agreement ahead of a free transfer in the summer.

Spurs’ managing director of football Fabio Paratici is alleged to be spearheading the club’s pursuit of the 28-year-old, with the Lilywhites thought to be facing competition from the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain for the centre-back.

Foot Mercato have now revealed that Rudiger has expressed his intention to join Madrid amidst offers from the Spanish giants and PSG.

The report explains that Mauricio Pochettino’ men have offered the player a salary of €7m (£5.8m) per year, which is thought to be higher than what Madrid are willing to offer.

However, despite this, the German has allegedly made it known that he would prefer to move to Santiago Bernabeu.

Spurs Web Opinion

I was never convinced that we had a realistic shot of signing Rudiger. If, as reported, Paratici was in talks with the Chelsea man’s representatives over recent months, I suspect that the centre-back’s entourage used Tottenham’s interest to negotiate a better deal with the likes of PSG and Madrid.
