According to a report in The Athletic, Gareth Bale has taken up the leadership mantle at the club’s training ground and inside the Tottenham dressing room along with summer signing Joe Hart.
Bale’s fairytale return to Tottenham has not gone as well as Spurs fans would have hoped with the Welshman having failed to hold down a regular place in the starting eleven.
The fearsome front three of Kane, Son and Bale that some dreamed about still looks a distant wish since the Real Madrid loanee has just started one Premier League game so far.
However, according to The Athletic, despite his struggles on the pitch, the 31-year-old is enjoying his time at Spurs.
The report claims that Bale has a lot of affection for the club and plenty of friends among the players and backroom staff.
It is said that many at the club have found the winger to be precisely the same character as the youngster who made his name at the club a decade ago as he still continues to crack plenty of jokes and get involved in schoolboy pranks.
The report even reveals that Bale, along with Hart, is often seen encouraging people in training and contributing to the positive vibes at Hotspur Way.

One dressing room source is quoted as saying: “If we are successful this year, a lot of that will be down to Bale and Hart.”
It is also asserted that even though Mourinho does not pick him often, the Tottenham boss still likes Bale and enjoys having chats with the returning superstar.

This is not the first report to suggest that Bale is very happy at Spurs, with Alasdair Gold’s sources also claiming something similar. So, it does sound like re-signing the Welshman could prove to be worth it even though he might never hit the expected heights for us on the pitch this season.
