Report reveals the mood in the Spurs dressing room after Chelsea defeat

The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare has revealed that the mood inside the Spurs changing room after the final whistle was one of pride despite the Lilywhites ending up on the wrong side of a 4-1 scoreline.

It is not often that you see a team come out with any credit from being beaten 4-1 at home but many fans and pundits praised Tottenham for the courage and conviction they showed in the London derby against Chelsea on Monday despite having to play a significant chunk of the encounter with nine men.

Several Spurs stars, including Guglielmo Vicario and Son Heung-min, have taken to social media to thank the fans for recognising their effort in the second half and giving them a standing ovation after the final whistle.

Tottenham players were proud of themselves

Eccleshare has now stated that the mood inside the dressing room after the game was ‘one of defiance and pride’ in continuing to play on the front foot.

The journalist suggested that the players would have been delighted with the reaction of the fans, remarking that the game strengthened the bond between the team and the supporters.

Finally, Eccleshare opines that the feeling among the squad and the fans after that defeat means that the momentum that Postecoglou’s men have built at the start of the season has not been lost despite the heavy defeat.

Spurs Web Opinion

Eccleshare makes a good point about the momentum not being lost despite the defeat but the worry is the fact that we will now be without several key players for the next few weeks due to injuries and suspensions. I fear that a few bad results in succession can be quite detrimental to the mood and confidence of the players.
