Report reveals the result of England squad’s latest round of COVID tests

Tottenham fans will be pleased to know that the entire England squad, including Tottenham trio Eric Dier, Harry Kane and Harry Winks, have tested negative for COVID-19 in the latest round of testing, as confirmed by Sky Sports.

All three players were involved in England’s 2-0 defeat to Belgium in Leuven on Sunday, which ended the Three Lions’ hopes of qualifying for the Nations League semi-final.

While Kane and Dier played all 90 minutes, Winks played the entirety of the second half after replacing Jordan Henderson at the interval.

England’s clash against Iceland tomorrow evening is now a dead-rubber and Jose Mourinho will likely be hoping that all of his three stars are rested ahead of the all-important clash against Manchester City on Saturday.

However, Gareth Southgate has already warned that the players will be playing for their future places in the squad and hinted that he will put out a strong team (Evening Standard).

Mourinho can at least rest assured that the trio have not contracted the virus as of yet with Sky Sports confirming that all three tested negative on Tuesday.

The report also went on to add that 16 positive cases were recorded in the last seven days involving players or staff inside Premier League clubs (not including those on international duty).

However, the Premier League are reportedly confident that there is no risk that any of this weekend’s matches will have to be postponed.
