Report reveals the Spurs players currently at risk of yellow-card suspensions

A report from Football.London has revealed the four Tottenham players at risk of receiving a suspension if they pick up a fifth booking in the Premier League.

The festive period is now firmly underway which signals the approach of the Premier League halfway point, which is crucially the suspension cut-off for players who pick up five yellow cards in the first 19 games.

Spurs are said to have a handful of players currently walking the suspension tightrope, and Antonio Conte will be hoping each will be able to avoid giving him a potential selection headache going forward.

Young midfielder Oliver Skipp has been the lone Spurs player to have gone through the suspension process this term after picking up his fifth booking of the season against Everton.

Cristian Romero is the next player in danger of a suspension having picked up four cautions in just seven Premier League appearances.

However, the Argentina international defender is not at immediate risk of a one-match ban as he is currently out with a lengthy hamstring injury, which would see him return after match-week 19 of the league season.

Spurs then have a handful of players each sitting on two yellows, with Harry Kane, Sergio Reguilon, Emerson Royal and Lucas Moura all the closest in line for suspension.

But, there would have to be a flurry of cautions branded to all four players within the next five games, with each still three bookings away from the limit at the season’s half.

It remains to be seen when Spurs will even be back in action due to the recent postponement of games against Rennes and Brighton after a COVID-19 outbreak.

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs look in decent shape suspension-wise heading towards the halfway mark of the season, with Romero the only real ‘danger’, though he is expected to miss the cut-off. Unless there is a feisty festive period for the team, then Spurs should be okay heading into the second half of the term.
