Bleacher Report have now claimed that Everton are the front-runners to land Philippe Coutinho this summer.
The Brazilian has previously been linked with a temporary switch (Football Insider) as well as a permanent transfer (Sport) to Spurs this summer.
Barcelona are said to be keen to get him off their wage bill due to the financial effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Coutinho’s agent, Kia Joorabchian has also admitted that the prospect of a return to the Premier League would appeal to the midfielder (talkSPORT).
However, Mundo Deportivo have recently suggested that Spurs boss, Jose Mourinho is not keen on signing the former Liverpool man.
Bleacher Report now back up that claim and suggest that neither Spurs nor Liverpool have made an approach to sign Coutinho this summer.
The report asserts that the midfielder’s options are extremely limited, with Everton being the only club to express concrete interest in him.
It is alleged that the Barcelona star is seriously considering linking up with Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park next season.
Spurs Web Opinion
Given the exuberant price that Barcelona are demanding for the midfielder and his form for the last couple of seasons, I am not surprised that few clubs have expressed interest in the Brazilian. I personally do not see where he fits in at Spurs with the options we have in the attacking midfield and wide areas.
