Report reveals Tottenham tried to ‘disrupt’ Vlahovic’s move to Juventus

Goal Italia journalist Romeo Agresti has claimed on his YouTube channel that Tottenham Hotspur tried to disrupt Dusan Vlahovic’s move to Juventus in January.

Tottenham were heavily linked with a move for Vlahovic leading into the January transfer window, with reports indicating that Antonio Conte had asked the club hierarchy to prioritise a deal for the Serbian (Gazzetta).

However, Sky Italia subsequently revealed that the 21-year-old was not willing to consider offers from Spurs or their North London rivals Arsenal, and preferred a move to Juventus instead.

Vlahovic got his wish as Juve completed a £62m deal to snap the striker up from Fiorentina last month (Goal.com).

Agresti has now revealed that even after Juve had agreed a deal with Fiorentina for Vlahovic, Spurs did not give up on their efforts to snap up the centre-forward.

Conte’s men allegedly tried to disrupt Vlahovic’s move to Turin but the journalist said it was unclear whether Spurs wanted to sign the striker in January or if they were trying to lay the groundwork for a summer deal.

Either way, Tottenham’s offensive did not work as the striker ended up sealing a move to the Allianz Stadium.

Spurs Web Opinion

One certainly cannot accuse Spurs of not showing ambition during the January window.

Apart from the aforementioned offensive for Vlahvoic, it has also been reported that Spurs had agreed on a fee with Porto for Diaz before Liverpool swooped in (Athletic).

In both cases, the players understandably preferred to move elsewhere but at least the Spurs hierarchy tried to get those deals through.
