Report reveals two positions Conte wants to strengthen at Spurs this January

The Evening Standard have revealed that Antonio Conte is prioritising adding a right-wing-back and a forward to his Tottenham squad this month.

With the transfer window now officially open, Conte now has his first opportunity to address the weaknesses he perceives in the squad.

The Spurs boss has made it clear that he feels there is a big gap in terms of quality between his squad and the best teams in the Premier League.

While Conte is expected to be handed a lot of money to spend, multiple sources (ESPN and Gianluca Di Marzio) have claimed that the North London club are likely to do the bulk of their spending in the summer.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealed last week Tottenham could target a right-wing-back, a left-sided centre-back and a striker in January.

The Evening Standard have now suggested that a new right-wing-back and a forward are at the top of Conte’s wishlist, with a centre-back not being as much of a priority.

The report also backs up earlier claims about Tottenham’s planned summer spending spree. It is explained that Tottenham’s managing director of football Fabio Paratici ‘will begin laying the foundations’ for a busy summer transfer window.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not surprised that a forward is high on the list of Conte’s priorities given the lack of options he has at his disposal in the attacking areas.

If the Italian is keen on a right-wing-back, that suggests that he is not convinced by Emerson and that Doherty’s time at the club is likely to come to an end.
