Report reveals two unflattering records Spurs have set this season

Most Spurs fans will likely be happy to see the back of what has been a frustrating season for the club, so soon after the highs of the 2018/19 campaign.

After going so close to creating history in the Champions League last season, the team was expected to push on this campaign, particularly after what seemed like some good business in the transfer market last summer.

However, the Lilywhites never really got going in their latest campaign and failed to put a string of decent results together until the final few games of the season.

Sky Sports have now revealed 14 surprising stats from the 2019/20 campaign, with Spurs breaking some unenviable records.

They revealed that Tottenham had the second-highest possession ever recorded by a losing side during their 1-0 defeat at the hands of Newcastle earlier in the season.

The Lilywhites also reportedly became the first Premier League side to fail to register a single shot on target against Bournemouth since their promotion five years ago, during their 0-0 draw at the Vitality Stadium last month.

Spurs Web Opinion

Some Spurs fans seem to be forgetting how poor the club were under Pochettino for the first few months of the season. There was no obvious style of play, with the team counter-attacking on occasion and playing slow, dogged, possession-based football during other games. The defeat against Newcastle was just one of several abject performances we put in at the start of the season. Whatever one thinks of the counter-attacking style we are playing under Jose, at least it is clear what he is trying to achieve. Hopefully, with a few more additions to the squad, we will see the Portuguese coach take more risks next season.
