Report reveals update on Hugo Lloris contract situation at Spurs – Talks opened

Football Insider have claimed that Hugo Lloris has now opened talks with Tottenham Hotspur over signing a contract extension.

Lloris’ current contract at Spurs runs out at the end of the season but over the last couple of weeks, multiple sources have backed the North Londoners to offer the club captain a new deal.

The Athletic reported recently there is a ‘quiet confidence’ that the club will be able to agree on a new deal with the 34-year-old.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold also claimed that Antonio Conte has made it clear to the club he wants to keep hold of the experienced goalkeeper.

L’Equipe stated last week that the France captain wants to extend his stay in North London but that Tottenham were yet to make a ‘concrete’ offer.

That now looks set to change, with Football Insider claiming Spurs do not wish to lose such an experienced and proven performer who has great influence in the dressing room.

Lloris is alleged to have opened talks over a new deal and the former Lyon man is said to be keen on committing himself to the club.

It is explained that the Tottenham number one is settled with his family in London, with his children going to school in Hampstead, and he has no desire to uproot them.

In addition, the report states that Lloris believes good times could be ahead for the Lilywhites under Conte.

Lloris has shown no signs of decline at all despite soon turning 35. In fact, if anything, his consistency has only improved over the last couple of years. So, offering him a new deal is a no-brainer for Spurs.
