Report reveals update on Tottenham’s chances of Gareth Bale returning next season

According to a report in Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur have the first option on re-signing Gareth Bale on another loan deal next season.

It was not long ago that Bale was written off as flop by some in the media after his return to Spurs and the Welshman’s signing was considered a waste of money.

However, over the past few weeks, the 31-year-old has shown signs that he is coming back into form.

The winger netted a brace in Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Burnley and his performance was arguably the best he has put in for a couple of years as he looked sharp and made a number of lung-busting runs.

Reports in Spain indicate that Real Madrid are happy to see the experienced wide man regaining form since the La Liga club are keen to get him off their wage bill.

The Daily Mirror suggested earlier this week that Bale is open to extending his loan spell at Spurs but will only make a decision on his future at the end of the season.

Football.London now claim that Tottenham do indeed have the first option to sign Bale on loan next season which would take him to the end of his current contract with Real Madrid.

However, it is revealed that for Spurs to be able to seal the deal, it would require all three parties to agree to the move.

The only way Spurs would re-sign Bale is if Real Madrid once again agree to subsidise a significant portion of the winger’s wages. One suspects that the Spanish giants would be open to the deal as it appears unlikely that any club would be willing to take on the 31-year-old’s full salary.
