Report reveals update on whether Lucas Moura could leave Spurs today

Sky Sports have claimed on their live transfer blog (at 13:23) that Tottenham will not let Lucas Moura leave the club on loan.

The Telegraph reported on Wednesday that Aston Villa were eyeing a late deal for Moura, with Steven Gerrard said to be keen on bolstering his options in the wide areas.

Football Insider subsequently claimed this morning that Newcastle United had also enquired about signing the Brazilian on a season-long loan deal.

However, according to Sky Sports, Antonio Conte’s men do not plan on allowing Moura to leave on loan even if they bring in an attacker.

This claim has also been backed by The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare, who revealed that unless Spurs sign an attacker before the deadline, they will not let either Moura or Bryan Gil leave the club.

The journalist stated that as things stand, Tottenham’s search for a wide player remains elusive. Eccleshare also added that despite interest from Nottingham Forest, Japhet Tanganga is expected to remain at the club.

Spurs Web Opinion

Antonio Conte clearly values Moura as a squad player and the Brazilian is an influential voice in the dressing room. The 30-year-old is also a team man who does not complain about a lack of game time and so, I do not see Spurs getting rid of the former PSG man even if we sign an attacker.
