Report reveals what Conte made Spurs players do after first loss of the season

The Telegraph have revealed that Antonio Conte reacted to Tottenham’s defeat against Sporting Lisbon by scheduling a training session on the morning that he and his players arrived back from Portugal.

Tottenham fell to their first defeat in all competitions since April on Tuesday, with Sporting sinking the Lilywhites with two goals in stoppage time.

Spurs had gone 13 games unbeaten before Tuesday night’s defeat and The Telegraph have revealed that Conte did not take kindly to the performance.

The Italian is thought to have issued some stern words in the away dressing-room at the Estadio Jose Alvalade and informed the players that they would be having a training session on Wednesday morning.

The report explains that the players were set to have the full morning off ahead of an afternoon session the next day but after the loss in Portugal, they were informed that they would have to start training at 11 am.

The Tottenham players returned to Hotspur Way from Portugal at 1.30 am on Wednesday and spent the night at the lodge before starting training in the morning to prepare for the clash against Leicester on Saturday.

Spurs Web Opinion

The one silver lining about Tuesday is that if were going to have a defeat at this stage of the season, it was better to have it in the group stage of the Champions League than in the Premier League.

I still fancy our chances to qualify for the knockout stages and even finish top of our group. Hopefully, losing a match after so long will help guard against complacency creeping in.
