Sky Sport Italia have claimed (at 17:15 on their live transfer blog) that Cristian Romero will tell Gian Piero Gasperini on Monday that he wants to join Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham have been locked in negotiations with Atalanta for Romero over the past couple of weeks.
According to some sources, the two parties are still some way apart in their valuations of the defender, with Atalanta continuing to demand €55m (£46.9m) without including bonuses.
Tottenham have allegedly been left frustrated by Atalanta’s stance but it has been asserted that the centre-back is keen on completing the move to North London.
Sky Sport Italia have now revealed that Romero, who helped Argentina to win the Copa America over the summer, is expected to report back for pre-season on Monday.
It is said that the 23-year-old has already decided that he will let Gasperini know that he wants to join Spurs.
The report asserts that Romero ‘will do anything’ to complete a move to North London.

If Atalanta are shifting the goalposts during the negotiations, then perhaps we need Romero to push for a move in order to force the Serie A club’s hand.
Hopefully, the move will accelerate once the centre-back meets with Gasperini and makes it clear that he wants to leave.
