Report reveals what FA Cup exit means for Harry Kane’s Tottenham future plans

The Evening Standard have revealed that Tottenham getting knocked out of the FA Cup on Tuesday could have a significant impact on what Harry Kane decides to do in the summer.

Middlesbrough sealed progression into the quarter-final of the FA Cup at Tottenham’s expense on Tuesday after overcoming the North Londoners 1-0 after extra time.

The defeat means that Spurs’ trophy drought will now extend to its 14th season, with the club having not tasted silverware since their League Cup triumph in 2008.

The Evening Standard have claimed Kane had made it clear that winning the FA Cup could be a significant factor in his decision whether to push for a move away from Spurs in the summer.

It is alleged that the England captain had told friends that winning the competition could pave the way for the club to lift further trophies with Antonio Conte.

However, following Tottenham’s elimination from the FA Cup, Kane is now said to be ’50/50′ on whether to force a move in the summer.

Even if Spurs manage to qualify for the Champions League (which looks like an uphill task), it seems unlikely that Kane will put pen to paper on a new contract with the club after the events of last summer.

So, Spurs will have to decide in the summer whether to cash in on him and reinvest the money into the squad or to allow the 28-year-old to run his contract down and eventually leave him for a cut-price fee.
