Report reveals what Guardiola has told City hierarchy about Harry Kane

The Sun have revealed that Pep Guardiola has asked the Manchester City hierarchy to sign a striker in the summer, with Harry Kane thought to still be one of the options at the top of the Premier League champions’ wishlist.

Spurs held firm amidst City’s advances for Kane last summer, with Guardiola admitting that his side were knocked back on four instances by the North Londoners (Daily Mail).

There continues to be plenty of speculation regarding the future of Kane, who will have just two years left on his contract with Tottenham in the summer (Transfermarkt).

The Sun have now claimed that City could reignite their interest in the England captain, with the club targeting a number nine in the summer.

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, who reportedly has a £62million release clause in his contract, is thought to be another name on City’s wishlist.

However, it is explained that Haaland representatives had talks with Barcelona, with the striker thought to be demanding a contract worth £650,000 per week.

It is thus explained that City could swoop for Kane, given the uncertainty over Antonio Conte’s future at Spurs.

The report asserts that Daniel Levy will be bracing himself for another offer from Guardiola’s men for the 28-year-old in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I expect City to pursue Kane in the summer if Haaland proves to be out of their reach. I do not see Conte staying at Spurs if the club decides to cash in on Kane. So, Levy might have no choice but to hang on to Kane for one more season and to let him leave for a cut-price deal in 2023.
