Report reveals what Jan Vertonghen thinks about starting against Arsenal in the NLD

It hasn’t exactly been a dream start to the season for Tottenham Hotspur or Jan Vertonghen this year, as the club have slumped to five dropped points already.

Vertonghen has been left out of every single starting XI so far too, twice as an unused sub and once dropped from the squad altogether.

This has raised a few eyebrows as Pochettino has picked Vertonghen and Alderweireld consistently as his starting two central defenders over years at the club.

Vertonghen is one of the most consistent centre-backs in the Premier League, which could be vital considering that Spurs have not kept a clean sheet all season.

The North London Derby would be a huge match for Poch to throw the Belgian back into, especially considering that reports suggest the Argentine is worried about Vertonghen’s fitness.

However, the Telegraph state that Vertonghen believes he is ready to start against the Gunners this weekend at the Emirates.

He has just a few days to prove this to Pochettino.
