Report reveals what Juventus sources have said about Spurs’ decision to hire Paratici

Last month, Tottenham Hotspur took the decision to appoint Fabio Paratici as their new director of football after Juventus opted not to renew the Italian’s contract at the end of the season.

The Italian takes up the role officially from today having already been working hard behind the scenes in Tottenham’s search for a new head coach to replace Jose Mourinho, a process which eventually took 73 days to complete.

Many Tottenham fans would have been unfamiliar with the work that Paratici had undertaken during his eleven years at Juventus, but those who have worked with him are said to have been impressed.

Sources close to the Serie A giants told the BBC that the 48-year-old was a popular figure at the club who is a hard worker and they believe that Tottenham have made a very shrewd signing by bringing him to North London.

Paratici is said to be not afraid to make big decisions and played a key role in convincing Daniel Levy to agree to the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo as the club’s new head coach.

Paratici needs to be a very strong character to be able to challenge Daniel Levy’s decisions which is something that has rarely happened before. If the Italian is to be a success at Spurs he needs to be given the authority to do his job and also have the funds to spend in the transfer market.
