Report reveals what Mourinho thinks about potentially signing Gareth Bale for Spurs

According to Mundo Deportivo (as relayed by Le10Sport), Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing Gareth Bale to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Bale recently opened up on his difficulties at Real Madrid in an interview with Sky Sports, where the former Spurs star insisted that he was keen to move away from the Spanish capital last year and wants to play regular football.

However, he also admitted that the La Liga giants were making it difficult for him to leave the club, even blocking an exit last summer.

Reports have indicated that Spurs could be poised to make a move to re-sign the 31-year-old this summer (El Espanyol) but his £600,000 a week salary could prove a hindrance (AS).

Mundo Deportivo now reveal that Mourinho would be in favour of bringing Bale back to Spurs as he goes about rebuilding his squad ahead of the new season.

However, it is claimed that the Tottenham hierarchy are reluctant to make an offer due to the financial outlay that is involved.

It is suggested that the club could potentially reverse their stance if the Welshman becomes available on a free transfer but Manchester United and Inter Milan are also said to be closely monitoring Bale’s situation.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given that Real Madrid seem desperate to get rid of Bale, I would not be surprised if Levy waited till the end of the window to see if an opportunity opened up. However, this is clearly not a deal we can hang our hopes on and our priority before the close of the transfer window should remain singing a top-quality centre-half and a backup for Harry Kane.
