Report reveals what Nicolo Zaniolo wants this summer after alleged Paratici meeting

Roma forward Nicolo Zaniolo wants to stay in Italy after recently being the subject of enquiries from Tottenham, according to journalist Alfredo Pedulla.

Spurs are thought to be keen on drafting in a new attacker this summer with the sale of Steven Bergwijn to Ajax moving closer (Charlie Eccleshare).

With Everton’s Richarlison and Leeds’ Raphinha high on the club’s shortlist of names (Evening Standard), Spurs are also looking further afield from the Premier League.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported last week that Spurs managing director Fabio Paratici recently travelled to Milan to meet representatives from Roma to sound out the availability of winger Zaniolo.

While talks were said to be tentative with no formal negotiations taking place, Tottenham may have difficulty prising the 22-year-old out of his native Italy.

Pedulla has claimed Zaniolo is keen to stay in the country with Juventus named as a potential destination for the Roma man.

Zaniolo enjoyed a bounce-back campaign last season as he recovered from two lengthy spells out with a knee injury.

He tallied eight goals and nine assists across all competitions (Transfermarkt) as Roma secured European honours by winning the Europa Conference League.

Zaniolo continues to be tentatively linked with Spurs and while he is a talented player, he may not necessarily be the right fit.

His injury history is a big worry and Roma are likely going to demand quite a big fee for him and you have to question if Spurs would take such a risk.
