Report reveals what sources close to Pochettino think about possible Spurs return

Sources close to Mauricio Pochettino claim they are ‘unsure’ whether a return to Tottenham this summer would be the right timing, according to the Evening Standard.

Pochettino is reportedly close to being sacked from his post as Paris Saint-Germain boss just days after winning their 10th Ligue 1 title (The Times).

Antonio Conte has been named as a potential replacement for the Argentine, with the current Spurs boss even rumoured to have offered himself to PSG (Le Parisien).

In the wake of Pochettino’s alleged imminent PSG exit, Get French Football News report that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has remained in contact with the 50-year-old and is trying to convince him to return to the club he managed for over five years.

But a comeback may not be on the cards at present, with the Evening Standard reporting those close to Pochettino are not convinced the timing is right for a Spurs return.

However, the report does indicate a job swap between Poch and Conte should not be entirely ruled out.

Pochettino was sacked as Spurs manager in November 2019 and replaced by Jose Mourinho with the club languishing in 14th in the Premier League.

He oversaw more than 290 games for the club before taking a sabbatical and signing a two-and-a-half-year deal with PSG, where he played for two years as a player (Transfermarkt).

Ultimately, the decision will be down to Pochettino if he wants to come back to Spurs, but it will also be down to whether Conte will still be at the club. If he is convinced by Spurs’ ambition and wants to succeed then he will stay, and that should be the club’s priority ahead of going back to Pochettino.
