Report reveals what Spurs will do if they cannot sign Emerson Royal

The Telegraph have reported that, if Tottenham cannot sign Emerson Royal before the transfer window closes, they could return for Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The report claims that Emerson is at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist as they look to bolster their defence on the right-hand side.

Despite the Brazilian defender only moving to the Camp Nou this summer, Barcelona are said to be desperate to raise funds.

Emerson had been co-owned by Barcelona and Real Betis over the past three years but the Catalan giants triggered their option to sign him outright this summer.

Fabrizio Romano has reported in the last hour that Spurs and Barcelona are close to finding a €30m agreement, while Daniele Longo claimed the clubs had already found an agreement of €25m plus add-ons.

The Telegraph claim that Royal could cost as much as £18m, but if Tottenham cannot get a deal done, they may instead return to Bologna for Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Tomiyasu has been linked with Spurs throughout the window, and Mike McGrath from the Telegraph also recently reported the Lilywhites still had a chance of signing him.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Tottenham clearly want a right-back or right-sided centre-back before the window closes. I suspect that it all depends on whether they can pull off a late sale of Serge Aurier, which has no doubt hindered their transfer plans this summer.
