Report reveals what those inside the club think of Mourinho’s training sessions

According to a report from The Independent, some at Tottenham are dissatisfied with the training sessions under Jose Mourinho due to the minimal focus on attacking play.

Tottenham were scoring goals for fun at the start of the season but things have dried up over recent months.

While the defensive approach was working until the start of December due to how tight Spurs were at the back, the results have plummeted over the last couple of months as Mourinho’s men have lost that defensive solidity.

Worryingly, the Lilywhites now look devoid of ideas going forward and are incapable of breaking down opposition defences.

Spurs have struggled to create too many clear-cut opportunities in the past three games without their star striker Harry Kane.

The Independent now claim that some within the club believe the problem stems from the lack of focus on attacking build-up in training.

It is said that most training sessions under the Portuguese coach have been based on defensive organisation, set pieces and second balls.

The report alleges that sources within the club say that there is little preparation for progressing the ball up the pitch and that the attacking idea does not extend much beyond getting the ball to Kane and Son.

Spurs Web Opinion

We do seem to lack any sort of pattern with our attacking play and that has to come down to Mourinho and his coaching staff. So Jose deserves the criticism he is getting at the moment. However, I am always sceptical about pieces like this. I think it is too early to suggest that Jose has lost the dressing room.
