Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Pierluigi Gollini is currently having his medical at Tottenham Hotspur ahead of sealing a summer transfer.
Gollini has been in fine form between the sticks for Atalanta for the past few years but Atalanta have now seemingly decided to move him on after signing Juan Musso from Udinese.
News first emerged on Monday that Tottenham were in advanced negotiations to sign the goalkeeper as well as his Atalanta teammate, Cristian Romero before Sky Sports also confirmed that the 26-year-old was on his way to North London.
TuttoMercatoWeb revealed on Tuesday that the former Aston Villa man would join Spurs on a season-long loan deal, with the Lilywhites having an option to buy the player permanently.
Di Marzio has now revealed that the operation to bring Gollini to Spurs ‘is now closing’.
The journalist stated that Tottenham will have the option of signing the goalkeeper permanently for €15m (£12.9m), which will become an obligation should the player make 20 appearances next season.
He claimed last night that Gollini is now undergoing the first stages of his medical examinations which are expected to be completed today.
Spurs Web Opinion
This is a fantastic deal for Spurs as there is almost no risk involved. With Gollini set to serve as Lloris’ understudy next season, the Italian is unlikely to make 20 appearances, which means that Spurs will likely not be obliged to buy him.
