Report reveals when the North London derby is likely to be played

Football.London have revealed that the North London derby is likely to be played in the second week of May.

Arsenal were originally scheduled to visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in January but the game was postponed due to injuries, unavailability and Covid-19 cases in the Gunners camp (ESPN).

The match is yet to be officially rescheduled and it looks like the encounter could prove crucial in the race for Champions League qualification.

Tottenham currently sit three points behind Mikel Arteta’s side in fourth place, with Arsenal having a game in hand over the Lilywhites.

Football.London have now explained that the derby is likely to be played in early May as broadcasters could hold it back in the hope of it being a blockbuster end-of-season fixture.

The report claims that the game is likely to be played between 7 May and 15 May.

While potential dates in April have also been mooted, it is said that there is very little room to fit another game in next month, given how congested the fixture list is.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Spurs will mind the game being played in May. Given the difficulty of Arsenal’s fixtures compared to Tottenham’s, the North London derby might be a must-win game for the Gunners towards the end of the season. If the derby is played over the next few weeks, it is Spurs who will need to play catch-up and go for all three points.
