Report reveals whether Conte could be in the dugout for Spurs tonight

The Athletic have revealed that Antonio Conte’s work permit was expected to come through on Wednesday.

Fabio Paratici took questions in the press conference on Wednesday afternoon since Conte’s work visa had not come through in time.

Although the Italian has worked in England with Chelsea previously, the club will have to secure a work visa for him since the UK’s employment laws have changed due to Brexit.

Sky Italia (via The Daily Express) claimed that the work visa might take a few days to be approved and that Conte was thus not expected to take charge of Tottenham’s Europa Conference League clash against Vitesse this evening.

However, this was contradicted by The Evening Standard who claimed that there are ‘no concerns’ about Conte not being able to take charge of the Conference League clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Athletic have now backed up that claim, revealing that the work permit was expected to come through on Wednesday afternoon. The report explains that Conte would thus be in the dugout for this evening’s clash against Vitesse.

Charlie Eccleshare also took to Twitter this morning to declare that Conte’s work permit had come in just in time for the match.

Given that Conte looks set to take charge of the team against Vitesse, the club would be wishing they had not closed the top-tier. The stadium would likely have been sold out had the top-tier been opened.
