Report reveals whether James Maddison trained for Tottenham today amid injury concerns

Footage from Tottenham Hotspur’s latest training session has emerged today revealing that James Maddison has not been involved, amid concerns he may have sustained an injury that will keep him out of action.

It may only be two games in to the new Premier League season, but James Maddison has already shown just how important he can be for his new club.

The midfielder registered two assists on the opening day against Brentford, before putting in an impressive display in the win against Manchester United last weekend.

After tracking the playmaker for several years, Tottenham finally made the move to sign Maddison this summer from recently relegated Leicester City, in a deal worth a reported £40m (Sky Sports).

The 26-year-old has made a big impact since his arrival, and Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has even named Maddison as one of his vice-captains, along with Cristian Romero.

Will Maddison miss the Bournemouth game?

Maddison’s promising start to the season has been bittersweet, however, as the England international was spotted leaving the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a protective boot on his foot at the weekend. According to The Athletic, Maddison will undergo a scan to assess the extent of the damage.

Now, a video shared by Sky Sports’ Football Daily has revealed that Maddison missed training today. It is unknown at this stage whether the Spurs man was absent as a precaution, or whether the suspected injury is now going to leave him unavailable for this weekend’s game against Bournemouth.

It is suggested that Giovani Lo Celso could be in line to start the upcoming match if Maddison is not deemed fit enough to play.

Spurs Web Opinion

It would not be ideal for Maddison to miss the next game, but if it protects him from further damage, then so be it. Hopefully, the injury is nothing too serious and he can be back in action sooner rather than later. Regardless, Giovani Lo Celso should be fine going into the starting lineup at the weekend if necessary.
