Report reveals whether Memphis Depay would be open to Spurs move

Spanish publication Sport have revealed that Barcelona forward Memphis Depay is not interested in joining Tottenham this summer.

The same publication reported last week that Spurs had enquired about Depay during their negotiations with Barcelona for Clement Lenglet.

The report stated that even though the Netherlands international wants to stay at the Camp Nou, he accepts that he will be sold this summer if a suitable offer came Barca’s way.

Gerard Romero subsequently revealed that the Catalan giants would be willing to part ways with the 28-year-old for a fee of around €20m-€25m (£17.1m-£21.4m).

According to The Daily Mail’s recent report, Barca have also offered the Dutchman to Chelsea this summer.

If Sport’s latest update is to be believed, Xavi Hernandez’s men plan on cashing in on Depay should they sign Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski, and if Ousmane Dembele renews his contract.

Barca are said to have frozen the striker’s departure for the time being until the aforementioned signings are completed.

Sport assert that while Tottenham would be able to pay the transfer fee the La Liga giants want for Depay, the former Manchester United man is not keen on joining Antonio Conte’s side.

Spurs Web Opinion

Moving to Spurs will not make much sense for Depay as he is likely to get even fewer minutes at the North London club than he did at Barca last season. Besides, I do not think Tottenham are likely to sign another attacking player this summer as I expect Lucas Moura to stay at the club.
