Report reveals whether Southgate will risk Mourinho’s wrath by taking Kane gamble

The Daily Mail have reported that Gareth Southgate is ready to risk angering Jose Mourinho by playing Harry Kane in England’s Nations League clash against Denmark on Wednesday.

There were reports doing the rounds on Saturday (Sky Sports) that Kane had picked up a muscle injury in training and was a doubt for Sunday’s clash against Belgium.

Although the striker did not start against the Red Devils, he came on for a 30-minute cameo as the Three Lions registered a hard-fought 2-1 win.

Southgate allayed fears over an injury for the England captain by insisting that the striker was only suffering from muscle fatigue (The Mirror).

However, The Daily Mail report that Tottenham remains concerned that Kane may aggregate his muscle problem if he plays against Denmark.

Spurs reportedly want the striker to return to the club but it is asserted that Southgate intends to give the 27-year-old a long run-out against the Danes.

One of the reasons Kane picks up so many serious injuries is because he never asks to be rested and is someone who always pushes to play, even if he has a slight problem. Let’s hope he can come away from Wednesday’s match unscathed if Southgate does use him.
