Report reveals which centre-back is at the top of Conte’s January wishlist

According to The Daily Express, Antonio Conte wants to reunite with Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar at Tottenham Hotspur.

Since Conte’s arrival at Spurs at the start of November, the Italian has been backed to raid his former club for several of their stars.

The likes of Stefan De Vrij, Marcelo Brozovic and Nicolo Barella have all been mentioned as potential January transfer targets for the North Londoners.

Skriniar is another name who has been linked with a move to the Lilywhites, with CalcioMercato claiming last month that Spurs could reignite their interest in the Slovakian international after trying in vain to sign him in the past.

The Express have now reported that Conte sees bolstering his backline as a priority when the transfer window opens next month.

The 52-year-old is alleged to have made it clear to the Spurs hierarchy that Skriniar is at the top of his wishlist.

Spurs Web Opinion

I have my doubts if Skriniar would be at the top of Conte’s wishlist as the Italian did not seem to rate the 26-year-old highly when he first arrived at Inter. The Slovak eventually won the Italian over and played a key part in their Scudetto win last season but I would expect Conte to go after De Vrij before Skriniar.
