Oliver Skipp’s time may be up at Spurs

Whether or not Spurs will let Skipp go this summer remains to be seen, but it is thought the club are open to selling the midfielder.

Now, according to Football Insider, the race for the 23-year-old comes down to Leicester City and Ipswich Town, with the Premier League new boys fighting it out for Skipp.

The report suggests it is Leicester who are leading the race right now, with Skipp at the top of their transfer target list as they look to replace Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in the centre of midfield.

It is said the Foxes want a player with experience and quality who can step straight into Steve Cooper’s starting lineup, and Skipp is seen as the man to do just that.

Leicester are leading the way in Skipp race

The future of Skipp has been uncertain for some time now. The academy graduate fell down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou last season, getting less than 700 minutes under his belt across 21 league appearances.

Football Insider had previously claimed Skipp could be in line for a new contract at Spurs, with ‘advanced talks’ underway at the end of July.

However, a report from The Telegraph suggested Skipp himself had asked to leave the club to get regular game time, and it was thought Spurs would not stand in his way.

The only thing complicating matters here is that Skipp is a club-trained player and we might need him to balance our squad for the Europa League.

But, we could just as easily register more promising young players like Jamie Donley and Alfie Devine in our squad there, and let Skipp go.
