Report reveals which club Paulo Dybala would prefer to join this summer

In what comes as a potential blow to Tottenham’s rumoured pursuit of Paulo Dybala, Mundo Deportivo have claimed the Argentine would prefer a move to Atletico Madrid in the summer.

Tottenham have been established as one of the leading contenders to snap up Dybala (Foot Mercato), whose contract at Juventus runs out at the end of the season (Transfermarkt).

The Lilywhites are thought to be facing competition from the likes of Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Barcelona for the 28-year-old (Sky Italia).

Mundo Deportivo have now revealed that Dybala’s ‘first option’ would be a move to Atletico as the forward would like to play under his compatriot Diego Simeone.

The report adds that the La Liga club have tried unsuccessfully in the past to snap up the Juve star.

However, it is explained that Atletico are no longer as keen as they once were to sign Dybala, with Simione’s men set to prioritise a move for a number nine in the summer.

Dybala’s stock is certainly nowhere near as high as it was a couple of years ago, partly due to the forward’s injury woes. However, the fact that he is set to be available on a free transfer would likely interest several top teams around Europe, given that clubs are still recovering from the financial impact of the pandemic.
