Report reveals which club Zaniolo wants to join after rumoured Spurs approach

CalcioMercato have revealed that AS Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo, who is of interest to Tottenham, would prefer to stay in the Serie A and is particularly tempted by the idea of joining Juventus.

It was reported in Italy on Thursday (CalcioMercato.it) that Tottenham submitted an offer of £25m plus Joe Rodon for Zaniolo, which was rejected by Roma.

It was explained that the Giallorossi would only be willing to sell the Italy international for a straight cash offer this summer.

CalcioMercato have now revealed that although Roma would prefer to sell Zaniolo to Spurs over a domestic rival, the attacker wants to remain in Italy.

The report asserts that the 23-year-old has ‘clear ideas’ about his next destination and is particularly keen on moving to the Allianz Stadium.

However, it is explained that a deal to sign Zaniolo would prove complicated for Juventus, who have already invested significantly into their squad this summer.

As things stand, it is explained that Massimiliano Allegri’s side would only be able to sign the winger if Roma lower their asking price of €50m (£42.5m).

CalcioMercato go on to add that the Giallorossi would be willing to open talks with Zaniolo over a new contract if they do not receive a sufficient bid for the player this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given the difficult last couple of years Zaniolo has had, it is understandable why he would not want to leave the Serie A this summer.

The 23-year-old needs to get his career back on track and taking the risk of moving to the Premier League might not be appealing to him at this point in his career.
