Sky Sports have reported that Newcastle United are currently leading Tottenham in the race for Leicester City attacking midfielder, James Maddison.
Both clubs remain interested in signing the England international, with the Foxes under pressure to sell following their relegation to the Championship. Not to mention the fact that Maddison has just a year left on his current contract.
Newcastle reportedly tried to sign Maddison back in January, but Leicester are far more receptive to a deal this summer.
Of course, Spurs are not able to offer any Champions League football to new players next season, or any European football for that matter. Newcastle, on the other hand, will play among Europe’s elite.

Sky Sports suggest that Spurs may ‘formalise’ their interest in Maddison now that Ange Postecoglou is in charge, but it is Newcastle who are currently leading the race.

Spurs don’t have a lot going for them on the pitch to convince Maddison. Newcastle have Champions League and seem to be a club on the way up. Hopefully, Maddison is keen on a move to London and Spurs can offer Leicester more than Newcastle, otherwise this one could be tough to complete.
