Report reveals why any potential Danny Rose transfer to Genoa has been delayed

A report from Sky Sports has claimed that Danny Rose’s proposed transfer to Genoa has been delayed due to the Italian club’s inability to pay the defender’s wages.

Rose has not been handed a squad number by Tottenham this season, with Jose Mourinho confirming that the left-back is not a part of his plans and is free to leave the club (Football.London).

The Daily Mirror reported last week that the left-back was edging closer to a move to Genoa, who just avoided the drop from the Serie A last season.

Since then, reports have indicated that West Ham United and Aston Villa have also shown interest in snapping up the England international (Le10Sport).

Sky Sports now reveals that Genoa are still locked in talks with Rose over a transfer.

The report claims the deal’s progress has been slowed down due to the club’s inability to cover Rose’s full wages but it is said that the Serie A club are still keen on signing him, with Tottenham happy to sanction the deal.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be surprised if Rose ends up moving to Genoa before the transfer window shuts. I expect a Premier League side to come in for him and get the deal done before the transfer deadline. With the experience he has under his belt, the 30-year-old can be a very useful addition for the likes of Villa or West Ham.
