Report reveals why Chelsea are moving for Lukaku over Harry Kane

Chelsea are trying to sign Romelu Lukaku instead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane because they view the Belgian striker as ‘more attainable’ (The Guardian).

Fabrizio Romano has stated that Lukaku is now one step away from joining Chelsea with a massive €115m coming as the final fee. The 28-year-old has reportedly already agreed on personal terms with the London club.

Sky Sports did indeed report in May that Chelsea were interested in luring Harry Kane away from Tottenham but also added that Spurs would never consider selling a player like Kane to a rival.

Daniel Levy reportedly values the England captain at £160m so that would mean Chelsea are also signing Lukaku for a far cheaper fee.

The latest twist in the Kane saga came this week when the 28-year-old did not turn up to pre-season training, however, but has returned now and is quarantining in The Lodge (Sky Sports).

He has most recently released a statement regarding his situation, denying reports that he refused to train last week.

Chelsea signing Kane was always one that just seems impossible. It’s hard enough for Manchester City yet alone a rival.

But Lukaku is a signing with should scare a lot of other Premier League teams. He is a world-class striker that could be just what Chelsea need to challenge Man City for the Premier League.
