Report reveals why Dusan Vlahovic turned down Spurs move in the summer

CBS Sports have claimed that Dusan Vlahovic turned down the chance to join Tottenham Hotspur in the summer since he was concerned he would be an understudy to Harry Kane.

Tottenham were heavily linked with a move for Vlahovic during the summer and the Lilywhites are still thought to be keen on snapping up the centre-forward.

Over the last week, multiple sources (including The Athletic and The Daily Mail) have installed Arsenal as the frontrunners for the Serbian international’s signature.

CBS Sports have now backed up that claim, revealing that the Gunners are ‘the most active suitors’ for Vlahvoic as they believe a January deal is their best chance of signing the striker.

However, the report adds that Mikel Arteta’s men still face a challenge in convincing the 21-year-old to move to the Emirates as the player is ‘lukewarm’ over the idea.

The report goes on to add that Spurs are still in the race for Vlahovic, with the striker said to be a fan of Antonio Conte.

It is explained that Tottenham only missed out on a deal for the Viola star in the summer as he was unsure as to whether he would get game time ahead of Kane.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not see any chance of Spurs completing a deal for Vlahvoic in January. I also believe that a deal in the summer is unlikely to materialise unless Tottenham genuinely fear losing Kane. I suspect that Vlahvoic will snub Arsenal’s approach and eventually end up joining either Juventus or Man City.
