Report reveals why Mourinho has chosen not to protect Gareth Bale

According to a report from AS, Jose Mourinho has chosen not to publicly protect Gareth Bale, unlike Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, as the Spurs boss is fed up with the Welshman.

There was a bit of a controversy surrounding Bale’s Instagram post last week, with Mourinho criticising it as he claimed it ‘contradicted reality’.

However, he did hand the winger some minutes in the 3-0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday, although the result of the match was practically sealed by the time the on-loan Real Madrid star came on.

AS claim that Mourinho’s outburst on Bale last week did not come out of the blue as the 58-year-old had already expressed his frustration to Tottenham’s number nine privately.

It is said that part of the reason the Tottenham boss has chosen not to protect Bale publicly is that he wants to distance himself from the club’s decision to sign him, with the loan move being primarily driven by Daniel Levy.

The report asserts that Bale will return to the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

A lot has been made out of Mourinho’s comments regarding Bale’s social media post but I personally do not see it as anything more than miscommunication between the pair. The fact that the Spurs boss handed the winger some minutes against City suggests that there has not been any sort of falling out.
