Report reveals why ‘outraged’ Coutinho doesn’t want Spurs move – Thanks to Levy

Spanish publication, Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), have revealed that Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho does not want move to Spurs after an unpleasant experience while dealing with the club last summer.

Reports have suggested that the 27-year-old is desperate to return to the Premier League after Bayern Munich rejected the chance to sign him permanently (The Mirror).

However, Sport reveals that the Brazilian now sees Tottenham as a last resort after a late U-turn by Daniel Levy last summer left him outraged.

It is claimed that the Brazilian had an agreement in place to join Tottenham before he eventually joined Bayern on loan.

The Spurs chairman is said to have reduced the finances of the offer at the last minute, thus causing the deal to collapse.

While the report doesn’t completely rule out a move to Tottenham for the former Liverpool star, it looks as if the Lilywhites might have a lot of work to do to in order to convince Coutinho.

Spurs Web Opinion:

We all know that there is likely to be a lot of truth in this report, as this is how Daniel Levy operates. While this strategy has ensured that we’ve got some great deals over the years, it also often leads to relationships with players and clubs being tarnished. Levy certainly has to alter his negotiating style if we are going to compete with the big boys in the transfer market.
